F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the Great Gatsby with many underlying themes, two of which are hope , compassion and forgiveness. Many people During the jazz age used hope as a way to keeping going. Hope is still alive today in everyday things, along with home. Hope is presented in the novel in different ways one way is by  a green light. The green light represents Gatsby's hope to meet daisy and soon win her back. He sees the green light far away yet knows his relationship is very present.
